This was tonight's task, 4 black and white abstracts and 4 colour put into a contact sheet. I really enjoyed this task I love looking for abstract bits turning the normal into something different and not so recognisable. Placing objects together so they go is the difficult bit
These are some of the others I took. some I like the corrigated one and the plug but didn't think they would fit the piece. also I stuggled between the cable in black and white and in colour.
The following are the ones I chose in full size

fantasy landscape
I haven't been able to get out and about so had to choose a local scene and play with what I had at home. It has taken me ages to learn how to take the cars from another picture and put into this one. Not ideal but as an exercise in using photoshop it has taught me a lot.

ongoing project
I think these are the 2 final editions. I have moved some pictures around so the colour balance is better in the the colour version and added borders to each photo in both editions so that they are more defined. let me know what you think

Panorama
These are my panorama views. the third one is my favorite with the colours and the reflections in the water. However this works equally well in black and white see the first one.

story of Burton
This is my story of Burton and how it was once a brewery town. the above was taken again on my canon 550D 18-55 lens. 1/250, 5 ISO 200 44mm
1/500 4-5 ISO 200 28mm
1/500 4.5 ISO 200 29mm
1/500 4 ISO 200 29mm
This is under exposed I thought of lightening it but felt the darkness added to the melencholy. 1/15 18 ISO 200 34mm
I feel the story is good but the pictures are not however see version 2 they have a bit more impact
What do you think?

composition
I use a canon 550D camera and the lens I used for all of these is a 15-55mm
The task this week was to look at composition and to take pictures which demonstrate some of the aspects relating to composition. the above was colour. it works because of the vibrant colours against the dark background. this was iso 800 f5.6 and flash.
This was originally colour. I would like to take the credit for turning into black and white but cant that was Marie. It was taken through a window and the gentleman was behind me. this was ISO 400 F4 1/4. I like the ghostly feel the reflection of the gentleman gives
This again was colour, a red carpet. however it works very well in black and white. The contrast and the leading lines along with reflection in the window make it so it looks like 3 levels and not 2 This was using F4 1/13 ISO 800
This is a work in progress. it was taken on holiday in germany and is collection of traditional buildings. Although it works well I may play with moving some of the individual pictures around to see how that works.
this was taken F5.6, shutter speed 0.6 ISO 800 55mm. This just about fulfils the rule of thirds, but what I like is the effect of the street lights which you can't see in the trees. The golden colour is more due to the settings of the camera than reality but I love the golden effect. It may have been improved by been fractionally lower and cutting out some of the floor and start at the base of the first pillar and having slightly more tree.
This is my example of texture but also angle. It was taken directly over head and the colours add to the effect. Had I set the aperture higher and softened the background instead of having it in focus it may have beeb more effective. It was taken at 1/10, F 5.6 ISO 800 55mm length
I tried converting this to black and white but it didn't work as well. This lines again. but also light.
1/30, F4 ISO 800 28mm length
This was going to be my focus example but it wont work even with editing however I liked the contrast of the tones as it is. 1/200 25 ISO 100 and flash
the final 2 bits are shadows and soft focus. The soft focus I don't seem able to achieve. This is the nearest I got
this is Fx 10 ISO 800 0.3 and focal length 39. ok picture but not really the effect
Had I been able to rig up a white back drop this would have been better as it was it was my dining room wall. but it was fun to do. 0.3 speed Fx 4.5 ISO 800 36mm.

light play
I struggled to choose the ones I liked there was pluses and negatives in a lot
This one I like because of the man disappearing and the contrast between that and the illusion of speed the lights give. In the first one the man appears quite ghostly
This one because of the line of lights
This because of the broken line of lights and the contrast with the shape of the church
This one because of the stationary car, the illusion of speed the lights give and the 40/hr sign
